Dr. Rochelle Williams, the principal of Freedom Elementary School

Freedom Elementary School

It is my honor to serve students, staff, and parents as the principal at Freedom Elementary School. This staff continually amazes me with their dedication to the education and development of our Freedom students. Before joining the Colorado Springs School District 11 team, I served for fourteen years in Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8. I also had the privilege of serving in the United States Army, where I met my wonderful husband, who retired after 22 years of service! These experiences as a soldier and military wife have given me a chance to connect with the community I love and serve. My husband, our five children, and I are a proud military family that understands the challenges and joys associated with the military lifestyle. Freedom is such a perfect fit for me!  I already love our family environment and the exceptional people that make up Freedom.

At Freedom, we will work hard every day to ensure our students will be successful community members. I look forward to an exceptional year at Freedom and working with everyone!

My “WHY”

Years ago, my hopes and dreams were to become a lawyer and an advocate for children. I received my BS in pre-law, a paralegal degree, and an MBA to prepare for law school. Then my oldest son started kindergarten, and I became a helicopter mom. I cannot imagine being without my son. During that time, I fell in love with the school my son was attending. I saw their passion for education and their students in everything they did. I was hooked, and from there, I decided to become a teacher and be part of the school family. I started a teaching program, and the rest is history.

I was hired as a third-grade teacher, and I was able to be one of those people: passionate about teaching, building solid relationships with my students, and still be able to advocate for ALL students. Am I sad that I gave up being a lawyer? Not at all. I have not looked back ever since. Fast forward fourteen years, and I am still passionate about education and building strong relationships with my students, staff, and community. I still get to advocate for all students by doing what’s best for students every day.

My Favorites

I try to work out at least 4-5 times per week. Currently, I am into spinning. I love spending time with my family, cooking outside, and going on family vacations to warm, beachy places!
