The Design Process
Define the problem.
- What is the problem?
- What information do I need to solve the problem?
- What are the requirements or restrictions?
Brainstorm many different ways to solve a problem.
- Brainstorm multiple solutions.
- Create sketches of your ideas.
Build a model of your best solution.
- Choose your best possible solution and create a detailed drawing.
- Build a model following your best idea’s detailed drawing.
- Make sure the model fits the requirements and restrictions.
Test the model to see how well it solves the problem.
- Use your requirements and restrictions as evaluation criteria.
- If the model needs changes, iterate until you have a solution that best solves the problem.
Share your design and the results of your testing.
- Show how your model solves or didn’t solve the problem.
- Describe how the model works.
- Ask how could my model be improved?
